Why
Have Renters Insurance?

How
to protect your belongings

Renters insurance is not required, but it is something that is very
important to consider, and strongly suggested by At Home. Basic
coverage can cost as little as $150 per year. Renter's insurance is
designed to protect your personal items, help with temporary
housing, and liability protection such as medical expenses for
people hurt on your property. Some policies can even cover property
in your car while it is parked at your home in certain
situations.

Something to consider: If there were a fire that destroyed your
rental home would you be able to pay the cost of replacing your
clothing, furniture, TV, and electric equipment on top of having to
pay a deposit and rent for a new place to stay while things are
repaired? The costs add up very quickly.

Below are several tips on how to make sure you get the best
possible price on your renters insurance.

1. Shop
Around.
Just like with auto insurance, each company
is going to be a little bit different. Shopping around with
different insurance companies can help save you money on your
yearly premium.

2. Multiple
Policies.
Many insurance companies will offer you a
price break if you have more than one insurance policy with them.
For example, your renters insurance and car insurance
together.

3.
Deductible.
You can get deductibles as low as $250
and go up from there. The higher the deductible the lower the
premium will be. Be sure to pick a deductible that works best with
your financial needs.

4.
Smoking.
Many insurance companies will offer lower
premiums if you do not smoke. So be sure to mention this if you are
a non-smoker.

5. Security
Systems.
You can also get price breaks on renters
insurance if you add a security system to your home. You no longer
have to be a home owner to be able to get a security system. Check
online for the many options now available to renters.

6.
Credit.
Having a good credit rating is one of the
best ways to lower the cost of any policy. An insurance company
will want to know not only how well you pay your bills, but
insurance companies use this tool as a predictor of your likelihood
to file a claim.

7. Take
pictures.
If you ever have to file a claim,
pictures will help prove what was in your home and cut down on the
hassles involved in trying to get all of your items replaced.

The above tips can help you select a renters insurance policy that
best suits your needs and at the right price. Remember peace of
mind is well worth the low cost of renters insurance.

Please
Unhook your Hoses.

Please do not forget to unhook your outdoor
hoses. The weather is quickly changing and the nights are getting
very chilly.

Hoses left attached will break the pipes and it can flood your
home. We already had this happen twice this year.

We can not stress enough to double check and make sure nothing is
still hooked up outside.

Thank you!

Happy
Thanksgiving!
